SUBJECT: Microsoft PS/2 /Serial Mouse
An ECN was released today to correct a problem with the Microsoft PS/2 /serial
mouse operation in PS/2 mode. This mouse will work correctly in serial mode,
i.e., connected to serial ports on the motherboard. The ECN number is
EC120293.087. The solve the problem, two resistors, R53 and R69, should not
be mounted.
For boards that are already out in the field, there is an alternate solution
to this problem:
This problem can also be corrected by cutting pins 2 and 4 of the mouse
connector (J11). Since these two pins are no-connect on the PS/2 mouse port,
they can be cut off so that when the PS/2 mouse cable is inserted into this
header, these two pins do not make contact.
The layout of the PS/2 Mouse Connector (J11) is:
